Customer case
FZ Organics
MCR Machinery offered us exactly what we were looking for and at good value for money: a simple and practical semi-automatic cutting line for cutting vegetable tubers for vegetable chips.
Klaas Jonkman – Plant manager FZ Organic Food
When automating processes, the aim is often to replace human labor with a machine. FZ Organic Food in Wolvega had good reasons to choose precisely a semi-automatic machine. Plant manager Klaas Jonkman explains why: ‘We were looking for a cutting line to cut vegetables before baking them into chips. Once the vegetable is cut, it goes into the frying oven. The operator turns on the oven and doesn’t have to look at it for 20 to 30 minutes. We wanted to put that time to good use. Unlike chip potatoes, human control of the vegetable tubers is important. By choosing a semi-automatic cutting line, the operator can check the vegetables for quality during the waiting time.’
Brochure
FZ Organic Food chose MCR Machinery to realize the machine. ‘We were already in talks with another supplier, but in terms of requirements, flexibility and execution we were not yet on the same page. MCR had once passed by a brochure and I decided to call this machine builder. We sat down and I explained that I wanted a simple and practical cutting line. MCR Machinery was able to offer us exactly what we were looking for with good value for money.’
CE mark
MCR Machinery takes the machine into production, but upon delivery there is an unpleasant sensation. ‘The machine turned out not to be CE compliant. The company discovered that it had used a drawing with outdated CE requirements. Due to MCR’s rapid growth, this had escaped attention. Fortunately, MCR Machinery fixed it right away. The machine was modified in a short time and the MCR team always made sure that the production process was not compromised. Moreover, not a penny extra was billed. Meanwhile MCR Machinery has implemented the CE requirements in all existing drawings and the focus is fully on meeting the CE mark.’
Short lines
Klaas finds the communication with MCR Machinery a big plus. ‘I don’t have time to spend a lot of time on the phone and with MCR I don’t have to. The lines are short and communication is pleasant. Even when modifying the machine, I never felt any annoyance or irritation. If we are going to make new CAPEX investments again, we will certainly talk to MCR Machinery as well.’
