MCR Machinery offered us exactly what we were looking for and at good value for money: a simple and practical semi-automatic cutting line for cutting vegetable tubers for vegetable chips.

When automating processing lines, the goal is often to replace manual labour with industrial equipment. At FZ Organic Food in Wolvega, however, there were strong reasons to choose a semi-automatic vegetable cutting machine. Plant manager Klaas Jonkman explains:
“We needed an efficient cutting line to slice vegetables before baking them into chips. After cutting, the product goes directly into the frying oven. The operator starts the oven and has 20 to 30 minutes of waiting time. We wanted to use that time effectively. Unlike chip potatoes, cutting vegetable tubers requires human quality control. With a semi-automatic cutting line, the operator can inspect the vegetables during the waiting period.”

FZ Organic Food selected MCR Machinery to design and build the industrial vegetable cutting solution.
“We were already in talks with another supplier, but we weren’t aligned on requirements, flexibility or execution. We had received a brochure from MCR earlier, so I decided to contact them. I explained that we needed a simple, practical and reliable vegetable processing line. CE compliance and adjustments
During delivery, an issue appeared: the machine did not meet the required CE standards.
“MCR discovered that an outdated CE-compliance drawing had been used due to their rapid growth. They resolved the issue immediately. The cutting machine was modified quickly without interrupting our production process, and no additional costs were charged. MCR has since updated all CE-related documentation to ensure full compliance across all designs.”
Smooth cooperation and short communication lines
Klaas emphasises the value of clear communication when implementing industrial equipment:
“I don’t have time for long phone calls, and with MCR Machinery I never had to. Communication is efficient, and even during the modification phase there was no frustration at all. If we make new CAPEX investments, MCR Machinery will certainly be one of the first companies we contact.”
