There are few machines at De Kubbe in Biddinghuizen that have not been modified. The company processes seed potatoes and stores onions and potatoes. De Kubbe is an innovative company and therefore MCR Machinery fits in well with the company philosophy. Director Dick van Tilburg explains: ‘We wash and treat seed potatoes. We can also cut oversized potatoes. Bagging is also one of our services. We dry onions and store them in our advanced storage rooms with mechanical cooling, as well as seed potatoes. Almost everything we work with, we invented or developed ourselves. We are in a niche market and were looking for a machine builder who does things differently.’
Customer-specific requirements
When MCR Machinery gets a tip, De Kubbe is surprised with a visit. ‘MCR Machinery had heard through word of mouth that we had a lot of customer-specific requirements and were looking for a machine builder who could fulfill our needs. At that time, we had a problem in the spray deck in the laundry. In our washing line, we wash and treat potatoes against mold and soil-borne diseases. The stainless steel spray deck could not cope with the vibration of the water pump and therefore kept tearing. MCR then thought along with us and produced a new stainless steel spray deck. A new type of pump was also produced, which in terms of vibration, capacity, pressure, water yield and power consumption better suits the laundry.’
Long-term warranty
‘In the past, we had to overhaul or replace the pump almost every season. That is now a thing of the past. We are happy that MCR Machinery is very inventive and dares to go off the beaten track. What we are also happy with is the service. A construction error caused a crack in a main pipe. With several other companies, I have found that they provide warranty right to the door. MCR Machinery immediately took responsibility and solved the problem nicely. We think that after sales is very important. We think you can retain your customers with it.’

For De Kubbe, MCR Machinery is a godsend. ‘Our company is always on the move. We are constantly looking for ways in which something can be done better, more efficiently or more hygienically. With the pumpkin washer, we can easily wash 300 large Halloween pumpkins in an hour. That used to take four or five people almost a whole day. The service is also well organized at MCR Machinery.

Our tipper and dosing conveyor have been glass-blasted. As a result, they look just as they did when we started using them in 2015. We often get compliments on them from people who visit our company, such as buyers.
